I got LINKED-IN! Some nice peeps from the block sent me an inviite!!! Check out my profile clicker here:
Now I got my site an RSS feed so you can get the latest security info for me for free!
I think I am fired! I don't know what for yet... I think it may have been the OPENBSD VIRUS that savaged our network the other day. I was eating my chow and I saw over 5000 outbound connections from the firewall. I asked the openbsd-misc mailing list and the ripped me apart! I am trying to find new answers... but the situation is dire!
I have just proposed a solution to the SPF mailing lists in an attempt to stop the flood of users abandonning the project in favor of Microsoft's takeover of the project! SPF is the Spam Permitted From protocol to attempt to stop the flood of spams that we all get every day of our lives!
There seems to be some fallout in the mailing lists I am on! Some people have resorted to name-calling (saying I am a troll). I wish the world would accept the brilliance of my ideas for what they are: sheer genius!
Coleman left a messaage and said that the new antenna would be here (keep it quiet because the FCC shant know) next week. This new one is not made of iron like the last five. Instead, it's made of stainless steel! This should cause less interference and it should stay in the ground better! The birds will be very happy once again!
MY GUESTBOOK IS UP! Post some comments and tell me how you really feel, dudes!
Well I am at the office now and I talked them into not firing me over the OPENBSD virus! When I got to the building security escorted me to the main conference room.
They gathered me and my stuff up and put me into the conference room and told me they had reason to believe I was responsible for several damaged servers, an exploded 10KVA UPS, a damaged biometric thumb reader, and the broken remote control for the projector screen in the main conference room (which was my fault because I put it in the microwave).
After a brief bit of herding I got everybody on the same page and explained to them how the OPENBSD machine has a virus and that it was not my fault that a warez server was running on the CEO's laptop since we don't know when the thing got infested and he takes that damn thing home every day and her kids are crazy skaters!
Anyway, it looks like I am back in the good graces at the bank once more! Whew what a long, long update!
Got a page last night and it seems that something has happened at the office! I went down there and there was the CEO and CFO along with about ten other people. They were going through peoples' desks (and mine!) and trying to log-in to all the machines. I guess they were not letting anyone in the building since they didn't let me in and I am the IT Director! I don't know what's going on yet but I hope it doesn't have anything to do with the OBSD VIRUS! I had to take the firewall off the network last night since it was broken so I just plugged the main switch right into the router.
Possible OPENBSD VIRUS! I will update shortly when I have more info...
The City and some guy from the FCC came by today and said I could not put my bird house pole back up. Something about the iron in the pole causing interference with the TV signals or something and the homeowners have had about enough property damage. They said the land was devalued! Of all the nerve! We will try for the sixth pole nonetheless...
The office called and it seems one of the UPS thingers are leaking! Apparently one of the guys at the NOC tracked it all over the break room and so now we have these shoe-shaped prints all over the office! LOL! But it's okay, because it was not my fault this time!
Wife called and told me that the bird house fell down. This will be the fifth time I've had to put it back up and it's getting a little irritating. Somehow I think my neighbors are involved but I can't prove it. Time for Mr. Webcam! How can I use this on OPENBSD, though? That's the tough part. I don't think there are cams that work.
Done a lot of good today. We got the new birdhouse built and the dogs managed to stay out of the way. I am thinking of putting a series of laser beams in the birdhouse so I can tell when the tweeties enter and exit. I can connect it to a CGI script that will let us all be notified by our pagers when the birds around. Sounds cool to me!
Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?
It's been a while since I posted last. Sorry!
Sometimes things just don't go your way, you know?! This weekend we did the fourth attempt at putting up the new Bird Resort. The misses got a knock on the face when the pole toppled over and the bird house wound up in the neighbor's pit grill. Well it was BBQ time and that was the end of that one. We crept in that night and got the remains and intend to rebuild. I doubt insurance will cover this one! Haha!
I got the job! I am now the new IT Director after careful maneuvering. Using all of the information I've gathered, I've crafted a fine career for myself in the information security sector!
